The Writing Festival offers 140 noncredit writing workshops across genres, featuring week-long and weekend sessions in June and July. Tuition is $590 per week and $305 per weekend workshop, not including room and board. No requirements beyond the desire to write are needed. Think of it as the greatest summer camp for grown ups imaginable. Most participants come with a wealth of personal experiences and expertise. Writers have ranged in ages from 18 to 94. These include people with backgrounds in every imaginable area from bartenders to medical researchers, those who have other lives - rooted in education, journalism, medicine, law, parenting, selling insurance or real estate, performance arts, farming, logging, social work - which is to say - across the broad spectrum of humanity.

Here are a couple of comments from previous participants who spoke of their workshop experiences and are quoted in the extensive print catalog.
"I made so many new friends - bright, beautiful people... I felt like we were in an intellectual think tank, like we time-travelled back to the best days of college."
Collette Liantonio - Montville, New Jersey
"It was an amazing week. What a luxury to have an entire week to write, to read, to talk to other writers without interruption or having to attend to other mundane tasks. Most important, for me at least, it motivated me to make writing my priority once I returned home, and I have done so." Ann Otto - Kansas City, Missouri
Director Amy Margolis describes the Writing Festival as an opportunity to pull up a chair and share your work in a community that wishes you well and tries to help writers come together across the genres and at every level of literary practice with a common purpose and in a common enterprise, as people who want to write, who have something to say. In fact, Margolis says, "We come as writers ...whether you arrive here with the third draft of your novel, a message in a bottle, or a line you've written to yourself on your hand... "

============================================
You will find a supportive community to encourage your writing dreams. I have attended this workshop a number of times (5) in the past and credit the experience with helping me grow as a writer. I have continued to be in contact with both faculty and other writers that I first met there in the 1990's.
